To meet the Indian Pulp & Paper Industry’s requirement of technically trained manpower, Forest Research University ( Deemed University), Dehradun & Central Pulp & Paper Research Institute, Saharanpur has been conducting a collaborative two year M.Sc. programme in ”Cellulose & Paper Technology ” since 2011 . The first year of the course is conducted at FRI University, Dehradun and subsequently the second year is conducted at CPPRI, Saharanpur. After successful completion of the course the degree is awarded by Forest Research Institute (Deemed University), Dehradun.
With yearly intake of 20 candidates, the two year (4 semesters) course syllabus is industry oriented and has been designed in consultation with Industry, Paper Technologists, Scientists & Academicians. The course covers comprehensive theoretical and practical aspects in various area of paper making including forestry, raw materials, pulping , pulp washing, pulp bleaching , stock preparation , paper machine , paper making including specialty paper, secondary fiber technology, paper properties chemical recovery , environmental management etc. The course also includes compulsory project work as well as two month industrial training to get a hand - on mill experience.
The students selection to the M.Sc.( CPT) course is done through entrance examination conducted by FRI university .The eligibility for admission to the course is Three years Bachelors' Degree in Science with Chemistry as one of the subject, BE/ B.Tech. (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering).
