Dr. Ashish Kumar is the Director of the Central Pulp & Paper Research Institute (CPPRI), Saharanpur — an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

A passionate professional with a robust background in Chemical Engineering and Paper Technology, Dr. Kumar is dedicated to fostering innovation and excellence in the pulp and paper sector. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and has earned his M.Tech and Ph.D. in Paper Technology from IIT Roorkee..

With nearly 20 years of extensive experience in pulp and paper research, Dr. Kumar has made significant contributions to the industry. He has also served as the Founder Director of Absolute Scientific Solutions, an MSME-registered organization based in Yamuna Nagar, for close to two years. .

Dr. Kumar has an impressive academic record, having authored 21 peer-reviewed research articles in reputed national and international journals with high impact factors. He also holds patents in paper technology, reflecting his commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and its practical applications.

Throughout his career, Dr. Kumar has successfully led and collaborated on various government-funded projects as Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI), in addition to executing successful plant-scale trials.

Currently, Dr. Kumar holds key leadership roles as the Chairman of both the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) committees related to the pulp and paper sector. Furthermore, he serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the IPPTA Journal, published by the India Pulp and Paper Technical Association (IPPTA), Saharanpur.
